My Story

I am originally from Venezuela, and my path to becoming a therapist is closely tied to my experience as an immigrant in the United States. After relocating, I became increasingly aware of how difficult it can be for immigrants to access culturally responsive mental health care. This awareness ultimately led me to pursue a career in counseling.

Before becoming a licensed professional counselor, I spent 11 years working as an educator in public schools. During that time, I supported students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds and witnessed firsthand the resilience, stress, and emotional challenges often associated with immigration, trauma, and major life transitions. These experiences led me to pursue graduate training in counseling, including a master’s thesis focused on immigrant mental health.

My own experience with postpartum depression further shaped my professional journey. Navigating perinatal mental health challenges deepened my understanding of motherhood and emotional vulnerability and strengthened my commitment to supporting others during similar life stages. As part of this work, I became involved with Postpartum Support International (PSI), where I facilitate a support group for immigrant mothers. Today, my work is grounded in providing trauma-informed, culturally sensitive mental health support to adults navigating anxiety, immigration-related stress, and life transitions.

My Passion

After experiencing postpartum depression myself, I became a certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional and now facilitate a support group for immigrant mothers through Postpartum Support International (PSI). My counseling style is warm, authentic, and grounded in acceptance. I have a special interest in helping clients heal from trauma and manage anxiety through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), guiding them toward greater self-compassion, clarity, and alignment with their values.

I am passionate about helping adults navigate immigration-related stress, trauma, anxiety, and the emotional challenges of motherhood. My work is informed by both professional training and lived experience, allowing me to offer care that is culturally sensitive and grounded in empathy.

I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional and facilitate a support group for immigrant mothers through Postpartum Support International (PSI). Over the past decade, I have focused on supporting clients as they build emotional clarity, resilience, and self-compassion while navigating complex life transitions.

My Approach

My clients often describe my style as warm, honest, and supportive. I aim to create a space where you feel truly seen and heard—one that’s nurturing, collaborative, and grounded in real human connection.

I believe therapy works best when it feels genuine and relatable. I bring my authentic self to each session so you can feel comfortable exploring your emotions without fear of judgment. Together, we’ll work toward meaningful change at your own pace, focusing on progress rather than perfection.

My approach is culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and flexible to your needs. I draw from approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help you build awareness, self-compassion, and lasting growth. My goal is to walk alongside you—offering clarity, encouragement, and practical tools to help you move forward.
